| Caveo Technology, a technology consulting firm located in Minneapolis, is seeking qualified professionals for its Software Development practice. The Practice Manager of Software Development has responsibility for the growth and management of the custom software development practice for Caveo Technology Inc. Desirable candidates will additionally have knowledge of: current federal and international privacy and security regulations; standard healthcare and financial services delivery systems and business processes.
This position offers a competitive base and performance pay model based upon billable utilization and gross margins providing the over-achiever with exceptional earning potential.
Essential Responsibilities
- Manages P&L and activities necessary to ensure achievement of strategic revenue and profit objectives.
- Accomplishes client services human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
- Establishes project scope by studying strategic business drivers; discovering and validating business and technical requirements and parameters; advising client regarding technology trends related to business solutions; obtaining input from subject-matter experts; examining and recommending changes to current business practices; developing and writing proposals.
- Develops solution by formulating objectives; planning project life-cycle deliverables and resource availability and application; preparing installation and modification specifications; leading the exploration, evaluation, and design of technical solutions.
- Implements solution by monitoring project progress; tracking action items; conducting design and implementation reviews; examining, researching, and resolving issues; escalating issues to appropriate authority; responding to team members' concerns; following production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying work process improvements.
- Works with business development team to identify client opportunities and participates in client engagement processes.
- Successful candidates will effectively split time between billable project work (40 - 60%), pre-sales technical support (10 - 20%) and practice management (20%).
Requirements
- BA or equivalent in computer science or relevant discipline
- 10 years of information technology management experience
- Direct experience with the software development lifecycle, business and workflow analysis, architecture analysis and design, and quality assurance
- Experience with the Rational Unified Process, and Rational product set preferred
- Experience with Java, J2EE and Web Services development required. .NET preferred.
- Experience in proposal development and sales support
- Able to interact with ALL levels of management and clients
- Must be a proven leader, results oriented, and possess excellent communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- PMI certified preferred
